Healthy Living with SGA: 4 Tips to Start the Day

Hey there, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters; Mary here with some great health tips to start off your day. For some people (you morning people out there), getting up bright and early is a no-brainer. But for others, getting out of bed isn’t so easy. Whichever kind of person you are, starting off the day right can help you stay healthy, alleviate stress and make sure your body and mind are in tune and at peace. So follow the SGA heath lifestyle and do these four things each morning as you wake up to make sure your day starts off perfectly, and remember, Flips. Fitnesss and Fun is what we’re all about.

1. Be thankful.
Maybe say a little prayer, or at least a few words of thanks and gratitude. Be thankful that you’re alive and well. Remember not to take for granted that you had a good night’s sleep in a bed with a roof over your head. You are healthy and you have loving people around you. Not everyone can say that, so be mindful and grateful for everything you have.

2. Drink water
Make a glass of warm lemon water. Pro-tip: add mineral-rich sea salt if you’re dehydrated! Drinking too much water can actually dehydrate you if you’re lacking in electrolytes. Adding sea salt to water ionizes it, becoming an electrolyte. Plus, sea salt is way better than regular table salt since it contains various minerals. We recommend some Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, or any other mineral-rich sea salt. The lemon contains some great Calcium and Potassium. Water = Necessary. Sea salt and Lemon Water = Healthy and Happy.

3. Wake yourself up with some small exercises/movements
– Go from downward dog to upward dog, holding each one for eight counts before moving on. Repeat 5 times.
– Stretch your wrists
– Stand in place and swivel your head, looking behind you left and right 3-5 times each side. Breathe and move slow, stretching the upper neck and back muscles.
– Shake out your feet and hands, making sure your fingers and toes feel okay.
– Flex and point your toes ten times on each side.
When you wake up, your muscles may be tense. Loosening up this way leaves you refreshed and awake while also getting rid of aches and pains you may have throughout the day. Way to be healthy!

4. Motivate yourself
Most importantly, when you wash up for the day, look in the mirror, look into your eyes and tell yourself “I’m worth it. I will make it through the day.” You’ve got the eye of the tiger, so go out into the world and make your mark!
